Q: How do I know if my project requires a permit?
A: Most cities require a permit when: moving plumbing, any walls are built or demoed in a home, retaining block walls depending on the city, adding onto a home, making a non-living space a living space, patio covers that exceed a square footage, re-roofs, etc. Permits may also require plan check which can add additional fees to your permits. Permitting may take 4-6 weeks to go through plan check as well. Please check your city’s building and safety website for more information.
Q: How will I know if my project requires architectural plans? How do I get an architect?
A: Most projects that require architectural plans are if you’re expanding or adding on to your home, turning a non-living space to a livable area, solar voltaic installation, etc. Any building adjustments to your home will require architectural plans. We have an architect that we’ve used for many projects that we would be happy to refer you to.
Q: Can I just get a basic quote for my project?
A: We will try our best to provide you with the best number we can. However, depending on your project and if your project requires architectural plans, trying to provide a basic quote can be very difficult. Since each city is different and requires different elements, plan review may change the scope of work drastically which would change the cost.

A: We would be more than happy to help you with permitting your project but, there is an extra fee for our dedicated time and efforts.
